The Clayton Youth Commission extends its heartfelt thanks to the David S. Smith family for their generous support and continued commitment to Clayton’s youth. Dave Smith was a longtime member and former president of the Youth Commission Board, dedicating countless hours to advancing its mission of providing free sports programs for local children.
In the same generous spirit that defined Dave’s life, his family created a GoFundMe campaign in honor of what would have been his 70th birthday, with all proceeds benefiting the Clayton Youth Commission. The fundraiser raised $3,000 in support of youth sports in the community.
Although Dave passed away in 2021, his impact continues to be deeply felt. He left a lasting impression on many, including the current Board of Directors. Some had the privilege of serving alongside him, others had children he coached, and some were even coached by Dave themselves. His selfless dedication and passion for the program touched everyone he encountered.
It is an honor for us to carry forward the traditions, values, and commitment to Clayton’s youth that Dave championed so faithfully.
